Lateral Connect Mentoring Programme
In today’s digital age, the need for skilled cybersecurity experts has never been greater. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and organisations across all sectors are seeking knowledgeable professionals to protect their digital assets. The Lateral Connect Mentoring Programme is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Our programme is crafted to meet this demand by providing comprehensive training, mentorship, and career development opportunities to aspiring cybersecurity specialists.
This five-month programme is fully online, making it accessible to participants from all over the world. We focus on delivering a robust curriculum that covers essential cybersecurity topics, and participants will be thoroughly prepared for industry-recognised certifications such as ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) and CompTIA Security+, which are pivotal for establishing a credible career in cybersecurity.
The Lateral Connect Mentoring Programme is valued at £7,000 (GBP), however, selected participants receive this for free, as part of the Scholarship Programme. Further information can be found here.
Group Mentoring Approach
Each mentee is placed in a small group with a dedicated mentor, maintaining a ratio of one mentor to five mentees. This structure fosters a collaborative learning environment where mentees can share knowledge, support each other, and stay motivated. The mentors are experienced cybersecurity professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to guide mentees through the learning process, offering insights from their own careers and helping to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Personalised Career Coaching
Our programme also includes personalised career coaching, designed to help participants navigate their professional paths effectively. Our career coach provides tailored advice on CV building, interview preparation, and job searching. Participants can also request one-on-one sessions for more personalised support, ensuring they have the tools and confidence needed to secure and excel in cybersecurity roles.
Professional Development Training
In addition to cybersecurity (technical and non-technical) training, we emphasise the professional development of soft skills such as personal branding, social media, and leadership. These personal development skills are crucial for succeeding in collaborative work environments and advancing in one’s career. By combining technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills, our graduates are well-rounded professionals ready to tackle the challenges of the cybersecurity landscape.
Networking Opportunities
This program offers mentees valuable networking opportunities by connecting them with experienced cybersecurity professionals and industry leaders through mentoring sessions, workshops, and special events. By participating in these activities, mentees can build relationships with experts who can provide insights, guidance, and potential career opportunities. Additionally, the program’s mentoring approach fosters peer-to-peer networking, allowing mentees to collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other’s professional growth. These connections can be instrumental in opening doors to job opportunities, industry events, and further professional development, thereby enhancing their career prospects in the cybersecurity field.
Cyber Governor
Furthermore, mentees will be part of the Cyber Governor initiative, gaining hands-on experience in cybersecurity governance within educational institutions. This initiative not only enhances their practical knowledge but also positions them as leaders capable of driving cybersecurity initiatives in various organisations.
We are committed to supporting our participants every step of the way, from initial training to career advancement, ensuring they are equipped to make a significant impact in the cybersecurity field.
