ABOUT ME
My journey to get into the cybersecurity world started in the last days of my high school. Back then, I was aware about hackers being around and always thought they were the bad guys due to misusing the skills they own and that they have unstoppable powers and how they do everything is unknown.
That was until I heard about the term “cybersecurity” which I instantly became surprised to know that such field exist where you can learn how to become a hacker to stop a hacker and start to secure digital systems and assets.
The aspect of contributing positively to the tech world, along with the significant responsibility entrusted to cybersecurity professionals, became a driving force behind my passion.
How did you first come across the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, and what motivated you to pursue it?
I came first upon it through a discord server of the forensics and security society of my university where a guy has posted about voucher code for the exam.
What motivated me to take this step was the recognition that the exam was conducted by ISC2, a leading organisation in cybersecurity certification. This also reflects the significance of engaging in study-related communities to stay informed and updated on such opportunities.
What were the different resources or materials used to prepare for the exam?
The ISC2 official online self-paced learning and supplementary videos from platforms like Udemy, YouTube, and LinkedIn to broaden your understanding. (recent is preferred). For practising exam questions, I used the official ISC2 post and pre-assessments.
Do you have any past cybersecurity academic training or experience in cybersecurity before this certification?
Just 2 weeks before the exam, I have completed my Bachelors in cybersecurity which has covered around 70% of the exam content. Additionally, taking part in the Lateral Connect Ambassador Programme, I have participated in several Security+ risk exercises which have deepened my
understanding on one of the main exam topics.
Which specific areas of cybersecurity did this training and exam deepen your understanding in?
This exam enhanced my understanding of the concepts and terminologies used in the cybersecurity environment and the different types of security and access controls. Additionally, it provided valuable insights into the implementation of cybersecurity governance, emphasising the utilisation of regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
How will this certification support your employability?
This certification boosts my employability by providing a strong base in cybersecurity, a key requirement for employers. Getting certified by a trusted association shows my expertise and commitment to industry standards, building confidence in potential employers.
It demonstrates my dedication to staying proficient and meeting expectations in the dynamic cybersecurity field.
In what ways did participating in the Lateral Connect Ambassador Programme complement your certification journey?
It provides me with insights and guidance on what certificates are worth taking based on my knowledge level as well as how to apply and consider available sponsorships from Lateral connect.
