Complete the Success Story
Experience/Success story videos
- Throughout the 5-month program, we ask each mentee to create a video every month to document their journey with the Lateral Connect programme. A minimum of 2 videos is required – one at the midpoint of the course and a final success story video at the end. These videos will help you reflect on your progress and inspire others on their path.
- Content guidelines:
- A brief introduction about who you are
- An overview of your experience with the programme and how you feel now that you’ve completed it – do you feel ready for the cybersecurity industry?
- If you’ve already secured a role, talk about what and how you felt what you learnt in the programme contributed to your success
- Example content you can use & customise – impactful sentences:
- “This program transformed my career from novice to certified professional.”
- “The mentorship and hands-on training gave me the confidence to tackle complex challenges.”
- “I successfully transitioned into cybersecurity and landed a dream job in just six months.”
- “The program provided me with the practical knowledge and support needed to achieve my goals.”
- “Thanks to this program, I turned my passion for cybersecurity into a successful career.”
- Monthly Rehash Example:
- Month 1: “I laid a strong foundation by learning essential cybersecurity concepts and working closely with my mentor.”
- Month 2: “I delved into advanced topics and gained hands-on experience through practical exercises.”
- Month 3: “I applied my skills to real-world scenarios and collaborated with peers on projects.”
- Month 4: “I prepared for certification exams and engaged in mock interviews to refine my skills.”
- Month 5: “I successfully completed the program and secured a rewarding role in cybersecurity.”
- Self-recording guidelines:
- Setting up the Scene
- Choose an appropriate location to record – look for a well illuminated space, preferably close to a window or natural light
- Avoid echoing spaces and try to minimise background noise
- Choose a clean and neutral background with few visual distractions
- Setting up the Camera
- Place your camera at eye level on a levelled and stable surface to avoid camera movement
- To make sure your face is framed well, place the camera at an arm’s distance away
- When recording with a smartphone, always put it in landscape orientation
- Preparing your content
- Focus and structure what you’re going to say, take notes if you find it helpful
- To make you feel more comfortable, practice talking to the camera and imagine you’re talking to someone you know
- Watch the practice recording and think how you can improve it
- During Recording
- Sit or stand with good posture, with your back straight and keep your shoulders relaxed
- Have calm and open body language with a relaxed expression
